About the Author
As a matter of formality and for the sake of propriety, let me introduce myself, my name is Shawn May. Now that we are briefly acquainted, let me share a few things about myself that might be of some interest to you, viewer of my blog.
I am a husband, father, student of Scripture and Reformed theology, musician, artist, and future church planter residing in Central Michigan. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Rachel, for over ten years. Together we have two children, Caleb Matthew and Lillian Grace. My family and I worship together at Midland Evangelical Free Church in Midland, MI. We are in a season in our life in which we are preparing for God’s future call for our family. In the near future, God willing, I look forward to both finally beginning seminary and serving as a church planter within the Central Michigan area; while Rachel is excited to stay home and focus on the education of our children.
My purpose in beginning this blog is three fold. First, through this blog I hope to chronicle my journey as a church planter with this hope that, in some small way, the experiences that I share may be of some encouragement to others going through a similar process. Secondly, in addition to providing an outlet for sharing thoughts and ideas along the way, I hope to provide resources and information for others who have also sensed the call to plant a church in their area. Finally, this blog will serve as an information outlet for those who are involved or interested in being involved with our future church plant.

Shawn,
I’m writing here because I don’t have your address, but Larry Doornbos passed your name on to me. I work with the CRC regional Home Missions office- recruiting, assessing, and training church planters. I would love to connect with you sometime and talk about possibilities in church planting. Are you ever in the Grand Rapids area? Or would you be willing to meet half way?
I hope to hear from you soon,
Amy Schenkel
